Lose a pound calculator

This is interesting:

Tie it to something you look forward to

Rarely do I ever look forward to exercise...I suppose that is how I got to be where I'm at. :) However, in the past week I've continued to use my elliptical every day. How have I done it? I watch episodes of the Office while I'm on it. I actually look forward to exercising, not so much for the exercise but for the great episodes!!

Maybe you could try what this guy does...

Itty Bitty Exercise of the Day

If you don't have an elliptical or any other fancy equipment...just do 30 jumping jacks. That will get your heart pumping. :)

Purchased an elliptical

Well, I broke down and bought an elliptical today. I'm going to try moving my tv into the room where it lives so I'm forced to at least stand on it. :) Despite my lack of enthusiasm for exercise, I have liked ellipticals in the past. They make exercise a little easier and a little more fun. Does anyone have tons of experience with them? Perhaps that will be my next poll...

Itty Bitty Steps

So despite my pedometer resetting itself, I think I am up to about 4000-5000 steps today. I just have about 5000 to go to meet the daily recommendation. Is there anyone out there who has figured out a way to make this easy?

Biking to work

Ok, this might be a stretch for some of you out there. I know it is often a stretch for me. However, if you can bike to work, it is totally worth it. Ask yourself...is there any possible way you could bike (or maybe even walk) to work? It might take a little longer and you might get a little sweaty...but then that could be your exercise for the week. You'd be done. :)

Things to watch out for

If you do get motivated and actually go to to workout, you should be careful of these habits:

Diet foods making people fat

I know I've read other things about this, and I've always wondered. It seems weird that the largest people around are always drinking diet drinks and eating diet food. You can't help but wonder:

I say eat the authentic stuff. It tastes better and it's probably healthier. Easy choice.

Walking to lunch

Think about ways you can make your walk to lunch a bit more envigorating. I took the long way to lunch the other day. If I did that every day, it might really add up.

Pedometers

Pedometers can be kind of neat, although I hate how the cheap one I bought likes to reset itself sometimes. If I stick it on, it can motivate me to move around a bit more. I like seeing the numbers go higher...higher...higher... :)

Biking

Just take your bike out for a little spin. It's kind of fun, and you don't have to go far. You'll be happy you did, especially once you feel the nice summer breeze.

Turn on the music!

Just by turning on music I have noticed that I tend to move more. I might dance a little or get started on some projects. If you want it to get you moving, just make sure it is energetic. :)

Turn on the music!

I swear...if you turn on music while you are doing things around the house, you'll be fairly likely to dance a little bit. That counts!

Where NOT to eat

While this site is more about exercise, the primary reason most people exercise is to lose or not gain weight. Here is an article to contemplate:

Itty Bitty Step - Sunday

Sunday is usually a day to rest, however, but it may be a great day to get some chores done. Just choose to do one small thing (I chose to clean the kitchen counters). After I do something like that, I usually start on to other things. This gets me moving around the house without even realizing it, and I'm usually running up and down the basement stairs in no time. This is great since it takes care of cleaning and your itty bitty step for the day. :)

First Itty Bitty Step

Does creating this blog count? Ok, I had to walk to my computer to get this created. That counts. :) After all, this blog is all about ITTY BITTY things that you can do that might add up to something.

Are there others out there like me that just can't stick with an exercise program? More important than losing weight, is the desire to look healthy (and to not feel like I'm sticking out in places that I didn't used to). Does anyone else feel that their metabolism just isn't cutting it for them anymore? The cakes and pies that you eat actually do start to show...
